These two pieces are the first approach to the project Leaves of Stars/Estrellas de hierba using Star Walk Application. This software allows ipad users to locate celestial objects by creating an image aligned with the sky responding to the exact user’s location, body movement, and time. While first attempting to use this application to align common and oblivious grass under my feet, I could not help being surprised at the breathtaking (and evident) fact of finding stars “under” myself. Therefore many of these pieces were made in pairs, trying to spatially respond to this easily forgotten fact that space has no up or down, and that many things of our world, being minute or massive, remain invisible and forgotten in our daily lives.
These two first images were taken on the 9th of July, 2012 at 5.45 pm in my studio. The grass found in this specific location (an empty and forgotten plant vase in my studio) was replicated in white paper and aligned with the stars found in the Starwalk App. The first piece pictures an upward looking image aligned to the Leo constellation, Mercury, Mars, Saturn and parts of Coma Berenices, Hydra, Leo Minor and Sextans constellations. The second piece corresponds to the Sculptor constellation (which I also happened to discover under my feet during the next two followings months), Neptune, Uranus, the Moon, as well as parts of the Psicis Austrinus, Grus, Phoenix and Aquarius constellations.

Estas dos primeras piezas son la primera aproximación al proyecto Leaves of Stars/Estrellas de la hierba donde se utiliza la aplicación Starwalk. Esta aplicación permite a los usuarios localizar elementos celestes creando una imagen alineada con el cielo que corresponde exactamente a la ubicación, movimiento y tiempo del usuario. Mi primer intento fue utilizar esta aplicación para unir las estrellas con la hierba bajo mis pies, ignorada y común. Con una sorpresa maravillosa (aunque obvia) encontré que debajo de mis pies también había estrellas. Por ello muchas de estas piezas se crearon en pares, ya que intentan responder espacialmente al hecho de que el univsero no tiene arriba ni abajo, y a que muchas cosas en el mundo, aunque sea diminutas o masivas, permanecen invisibles y olvidadas en nuestra vida cotidiana.
Estas dos primeras imágenes fueron tomadas el 9 de julio del 2012 a las 5.45 pm en mi estudio. La hierba encontrada en esta ubicación (en una maceta olvidada de mi estudio) fue replicada en papel blanco y alineada con las estrellas encontradas a través de la aplicación Starwalk. La primera imagen, que voltea hacia arriba, está alineada con la constelación de Leo, Mercurio, Marte y Saturno así como partes de las constelaciones de Coma Berenices, Hydra, Leo Menor y Sextans. La segunda imagen corresponde a la constelación de Sculptor (la cual también descubrí bajo mis pies durante los siguientes dos meses), Neptuno, Urano, la Luna, y partes de las constelaciones de Piscis Austrinus, Grus, Phoenix y Acuario.

The following two pieces correspond to a pair of sky images taken during the 9th of July, 2012 at 5:51pm just outside my studio under an old tree. The upward looking image is lined up with Ursa Mayor, Mercury and parts of Canes Venatici, Leo Minor, Leo, and Coma Berenices constellations. The downward looking piece is matched again to the Sculptor constellations, also including Piscis Austrinus, Grus, Aquarius, Uranus, Neptune, and the Moon. These are the first pieces with scored elements on paper.
Estas dos piezas corresponden a dos imagen del cielo tomadas el 9 de julio del 2012 a las 5:51 pm a fuera de mi estudio y sobre un viejo árbol. La primera imagen voltea hacia arriba y está alineada con la Osa Mayor, Mercurio y partes de las constelaciones Canes Venatici, Leo Menor, Leo y Coma Berenices. La segunda imagen mira hacia abajo y se alinea con las constelaciones de Sculptor, Piscis Austrinus, Gris, Aquarius, y los astros Urano, Neptuno y la luna. Estas son las primeras dos piezas con elementos marcados y dibujados sobre el papel.

These next set of works now includes the dictionary definitions of grass and star, in Spanish and English, as well as other celestial elements scored or punctured with there exact image locations onto the paper surface.
These Starwalk App images were taken on October 25th, 2012 at 1:07 pm at my studio and are aligned with the grass found within another pot. The upward looking image pictures mainly Virgo and the star Arcturus in the Bootes constellation —the third brightest start of our Northern night skies— together with the Sun, Venus, HR5694 and other elements. The downward image includes the Cetus constellation, and other planets, constellations fragments and satellites.
Este par de trabajos incluyen las definiciones de diccionario de estrella y hierba en español y en inglés, así como otros elementos perforados o marcados sobre el papel en su posición exacta.
Ambas imágenes fueron tomadas el 25 de octubre del 2012 a las 1.07 pm en mi estudio y están alineadas con la hierba de una maceta. La primera imagen, que es la que "voltea" hacia arriba, muestra la constelación de Virgo, el Sol, Venus, HR5694 y la estrella Arcturus en la constelación de Bootes, es también la tercera estrella más brillante de la noche en el hemisferio Norte. La segunda imagen que voltea hacia la tierra incluye la constelación de Cetus, planetas y satélites.

This work is based on two maps, a local “grass” map, and a Starwalk sky map elaborated on September 17th, 2012 at 3.30 pm. A piece of land containing ignored grass under the carefully trimmed roses of a garden was framed and all the contained tiny plants were registered in a self-drawn map. These replicated paper plants and their locations were then placed in a paper surface scored with the constellations located exactly under this position.
Esta pieza está creada sobre dos mapas: un mapa local de hierbas elaborado por la autora y un mapa de Starwalk, ambos elaborados el 17 de septiembre del 2012 a las 3.30 pm. El primer mapa registra un pedazo de tierra y las hierbas que contenía bajo unos bellos rosales de un cuidado jardín. Las hierbas registradas y dibujadas en el mapa fueron replicadas en papel y colocadas en su ubicación en el mapa de hierbas. Este mismo mapa también tiene marcadas las constelaciones exactas que se ubicaban sobre este espacio en este momento.

Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass has been a Strong influence for this project. Many of his poems lines referring to stars or grass were scored into the surface of this paper among the October night sky map with star magnitudes, and a “punctured” Milky Way. Paper grass was aligned with the stars of biggest magnitude.
El libro Hojas de la hierba de Walt Whitman ha tenido una fuerte influencia sobre este proyecto. Muchos de sus versos que refieren a estrellas o hierba fueron escritos sobre este papel, junto con un mapa estelar de los cielos de octubre, la magnitud de las principales estrellas, y una Vía Láctea "perforada". La "hierba" de papel fue alineada con las estrellas de mayor magnitud.

This featured paper piece works on two opposing Starwalk App images: a sunrise and a sunset taken on November 15th, 2012 at 7:00 am and 5.53 pm. In both cases, the Sun, Serpens Caput constellation and other celestial elements are shown twice within the monochrome image, scored into the paper surface along with “punctured” stars and the Milky way. This layered white piece also includes a paper cutout of a world map featuring the American Continent and a group of paper miniature plants layout in the space my full left hand occupied on the paper surface.
The title of the piece is a quote from Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space, a book that has had a profound impact on my sculpture practice. So, in a certain way, this work attempts to bond different landscapes that exist invisibly within our daily lives.
Esta pieza incluye dos imágenes opuestas tomadas con la aplicación Starwalk: el amanecer y el atardecer del 15 de noviembre a las 7:00 am. y a las 5:53 pm. respectivamente. En ambos casos el Sol, la constelación de Serpens Caput y otros elementos celestes son mostrados en una imagen monocroma y marcados en el papel junto con la Vía Láctea y estrellas perforadas. Esta pieza con muchas capas de papel, marcas y perforaciones también incluye un mapa recortado del continente americano y un grupo de hierbas de papel agrupadas en el espacio que ocuparía mi mano izquierda.
El título de la pieza es un fragmento del libro de Gaston Bachelard La poética del espacio, una obra que ha tenido un profundo impacto en mi práctica artística. Así esta pieza, es un humilde intento de vincular los diferentes paisajes que son invisibles en nuestra vida cotidiana.

Up and down has been a basic location axis within this project, not only as geographic parameters, but also as bodily movements that relate the self with space and other elements that coexist within it. This paper piece includes two Starwalk App images —taken on November 15th, 2012 at 5.46 pm at my studio and showing the Cygnus and Vela constellations: images looking upward and downward, together with two cutout opposing maps of the world, making reference to the antipode dialog between dichotomies such as up and down, the miniature and the massive, or far and near.
The title of the piece is also a quote from Paul Eluard from the book The Poetics of Space.
Arriba y abajo es un eje de ubicación que ha sido básico para este proyecto, no sólo como un parámetro geográfico, sino también como un movimiento corporal que relaciona al ser con el espacio y otros elementos que coexisten. Esta pieza incluye dos imágenes de la aplicación Starwalk tomadas el 15 de noviembre del 2012 a las 5.46 pm en mi estudio y muestran las constelaciones de Cygnus y Vela, una orientada hacia “abajo” y la otra hacia “arriba”, junto con dos mapamundis recortados y opuestos. Esto hace referencia a las antípodas geográficas que dialogan como dicotomías de arriba y abaja, lo pequeño y lo grande, lo cercano y lo lejano.
El título de la pieza es un fragmento del poema de Paul Eluard citado por Gaston Bachelard en La poética del espacio.

This piece and Sky on Earth explore the relationship between two apparently antagonist elements, earth and sky, and their life potentialities. The included texts are fragments of Earth’s definition in English and Spanish together with descriptive data of our planet such as radius or weight. A punctured image of Western and Eastern hemispheres floats along with small flora. These plants are aligned with exoplanets located in a map of our sky overlapped along these images. On the lower edge, a small paper house lays open wandering about Paul Eluard’s verse “When the peaks of our sky come together/ My house will have a roof.”
Esta pieza y El cielo en la tierra exploran la relación entre el cielo y la tierra y sus posibilidades de vida. Los textos incluyen fragmentos de la definición de tierra en ingles y español y datos descriptivos de nuestro planeta como su radio y peso. Sobre ellos se traslapa un contorno punteado de los dos hemisferios terrestres. Las hierbas de papel están alineadas con los posibles exoplanetas ubicados en un mapa estelar sobrepuesto. Al pie de la superficie del papel se encuentra una pequeña casita de papel desdoblada e inspirada en el verso del Paul Eluard “Cuando los picos de nuestro cielo se unan / mi casa tendrá un techo”.

Earth on the Sky, 2013

Inspired by the phrase “I am not this body” from the Indian Saint Anandamayi ma, this paper work (together with its companion) contemplates on the different ways in which different traditions (such as Hinduist, Judeo-Christian or Buddhist) construct and understand the self, the individual, and the body. This image includes the cutout negative of the mentioned phrase together with fragments of the definition of self in English and Spanish, a punctured and scored image of the day in which the author was born and small grass aligned as it was found in front of the author’s studio.
Inspirada en la reflexiva frase “No soy este cuerpo” (I am not this body) de la santa india Anandamayi ma, esta pieza (junto con su pieza compañera La ilusión del ser) reflexiona sobre las distintas formas de construir y entender el ser, el individuo y el cuerpo en diversas tradiciones filosóficas (la hinduista, budista y judeocristiana en este caso). Aquí se traslapa la frase recortada en negativo I am not this body junto con fragmentos de la definición de ser en inglés y español, la fotografía de Starwalk del cielo el día en que nació la autora, y las pequeñas hierbas que se ubicaban en la entrada del taller donde se realizó la pieza.

Along with its companion, The being of illusion, this work examines the phrase “I am not this body”. One finds here the cut letters taken out from the other piece and inserted in this piece in its positive and opposite meaning: “I am this body”. A Starwalk photograph of the sky under the author’s feet on the day she was born is scored into the paper’s surface. The piece also includes small paper replicas of plants found outside the author’s studio, a cutout satellite, and fragments of the Hinduist concept of Anattā, which refers to the illusion of the self.
Junto con su compañera El ser ilusorio, esta pieza explora la frase “No soy este cuerpo” (I am not this body) de la santa india Anandamayi ma. Aquí se encuentran las letras recortadas y retiradas de El ser ilusorio pero colocadas en afirmación (I am this body), la fotografía de Starwalk del cielo bajo el cuerpo de la autora en el día de su nacimiento, algunas réplicas de hierbas encontradas fuera del taller, y un satélite recortado que hace alusión a la perspectiva externa junto con fragmentos del concepto hinduista de Anattā, que se refiere a la ilusión del “ser”.

This paperwork along with Your Light Within Me, explores the idea and construction of the other, the I and the you. The dictionary definitions of these big words are quite reduced and simplified. The English definition of you and the Spanish definition for I (yo) are scored on this paper, along with Deleuze’s and Guattari’s formula pondering on the relation between the individual and the other in their book A Thousand Plateaus (x = y).
The scored Starwalk image (including the constellation of Sagittarius, planets and stars) corresponds to the birth date of the author’s former partner, considered at that moment “the closest other”. Both silhouettes are autobiographic: the positive and the negative are an exchange of individuals and stars (considering that Your Light Within Me portrays the author’s birthdate stars). Small grasses and a plane travel along the paper surface.
Esta pieza, junto con su compañera Tu luz que hay en mí, reflexiona en torno a la construcción y concepto del otro, del yo, y del tú. Cabe notar que las definiciones de yo y tú resultan sumamente escuetas para definir un tema tan amplio y vital como el ser y el otro. Sobre este papel aparecen la definición en inglés del tú (you) y en español la de yo. Así como la fórmulas (x = y) del libro Mil Mesetas de Gilles Deleuze y Felix Guattari y la frase “Gracias Deleuze” que reflexionan sobre la relación y del individuo y el otro.
La foto del cielo de Starwalk corresponde al nacimiento de su entonces pareja, considerada en ese momento “ese otro yo más cercano”. Incluye constelación de Sagitario, estrellas y planetas. Las dos siluetas son autobiográficas: una negativa y una positiva, en un intercambio no sólo de personas sino también de “estrellas” ya que las estrellas de la pieza compañera corresponden al cielo del nacimiento de la autora. Pequeñas hierbas y un avión viajan también sobre la superficie del papel.

This work along with My Light Within You, investigates the construction and notion of the other, the I and the you. It is important to observe that the dictionary definitions of I and you are quite simple and scarce considering the self and the other are such important aspect of humankind. This paper piece contains the English definitions of I and me, and the Spanish definition of you along with two formulas from the book A Thousand Plateaus by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari which also explore the relation between the individual an the other (you = me, …+y+z+a…).
The Pisces constellation, the starts and planets among the sky at the author’s birth date are scored and punctured into the paper. Above this one can see a double silhouette of the author. The cutout form this paper was exchanged with the cutout Your Light Within Me. Therefore both silhouettes, positive and negative are united both as a personal and star exchange. The stars form the piece Your Light Within Me correspond to the person that was considered at the moment “the closest other”, the birth date of the author’s former partner. A scored image if the author’s fingerprint envelops the negative figure. Small grasses and a bird cutout travel on the paper’s surface.
Esta pieza, junto con su compañera Mi luz que hay en ti, reflexiona en torno a la construcción y concepto del otro, del yo, y del tú. Cabe notar que las definiciones de diccionario de yo y tú resultan sumamente escuetas para definir un tema tan amplio y vital como el ser y el otro. Sobre este papel aparecen las dos definiciones en inglés del yo (I y me) y en español la de tú, así como dos fórmulas del libro Mil Mesetas de Gilles Deleuze y Felix Guattari, que reflexionan sobre la relación y del individuo y el otro (tu=yo, y …+ y + z + a…).
La constelación de Piscis, las estrellas y planetas del cielo al momento del nacimiento de la autora se unen a la imagen. Sobre ellas flota el espacio negativo de la silueta de la autora, dicho recorte se intercambió con la silueta recortada de la pieza compañera Tu luz que hay en mí. Así quedan así unidas dos siluetas de la autora, una negativa y una positiva, en un intercambio no sólo de personas sino también de “estrellas” ya que las estrellas de la pieza compañera corresponden al cielo del nacimiento de su expareja, considerada en ese momento “ese otro yo más cercano”. Una imagen ampliada de la huella dactilar de la autora rodea la silueta negativa. Pequeñas hierbas y un pájaro viajan también sobre la superficie del papel.

Your Light Within Me, 2013

Life and Flora along with Life and Fauna explore the deep bond between life generating cycles in the macrocosms and microcosm, between water and life. This image includes a typical primary school description of the characteristics of life in English together with a Starwalk photograph of the Cancer constellation emerging from the sea. Cancer is a Greek symbol for life regeneration. A plant cell diagram and plant paper replicas float on the paper surface. This piece is inspired in the books Symbiotic Planet by the biologist Lynn Margulis and We are blue by the oceanographer Sylvia Earle.
La vida y la flora junto con La vida y la fauna exploran el profundo vínculo generador de vida entre el macro y microcosmos y entre el agua y la tierra. Esta imagen une un texto que enuncia en inglés las características básicas de la vida junto con una fotografía de Starwalk de la constelación de Cáncer (símbolo de la generación de vida) emergiendo del mar. Un diagrama de la célula vegetal flota entre las estrellas junto con réplicas de hierbas. Ambas piezas se inspiran en los libros Planeta simbiótico de la genetista Lynn Margulis y We are blue de la oceanógrafa Sylvia Earle.

Life and Fauna, along with Life and Flora explore the deep bond between life generating cycles in the macrocosm and microcosm, between water and life. Three texts appear on the paper surface. The first one corresponds to a text form Sylvia Earle (“Without the blue, there is no green: there is no life on Earth. The blue, water, is the key to life”). The second one, “somos aguas animadas” (we are animated waters), refers to the Hypersea theory discussed in the book Symbiotic Planet by Lynn Margulis. This theory proposes that when life came out of the sea and developed on earth had to “take the sea within itself” to survive. The third text corresponds to the definition of life in Spanish. Among these texts float punctured stars and a scored Cancer constellation emerging from the sea (Cancer is the Greek symbol for life regeneration). An animal cell diagram, a spider, fish and bird cutouts are also present elements.
La vida y la fauna, junto con su pieza compañera La vida y la flora, exploran el profundo vínculo generador de vida entre el macro y microcosmos y entre el agua y la tierra. Sobre la superficie del papel aparecen tres textos. El primero corresponde a una cita del libro We are Blue de la oceanógrafa Sylvia Earle: “Sin el azul no puede haber verde, no hay vida en la Tierra… El agua, lo azul, es la llave de la vida. Con ella todo es posible, sin ella la vida no existe.” El segundo texto, “somos aguas animadas”, se refiere a la teoría del Hypermar discutida en el libro Planeta Simbiótico de la genetista Lynn Margulis. Es importante mencionar que esta teoría proponer que la vida que se desarrolló en la tierra tuvo que “portar el mar dentro de sí misma” para sobrevivir en el nuevo entorno. El tercer texto expone la definición de vida en español. Sobre estos textos flotan las estrellas y la constelación de Cáncer emergiendo del mar, de una foto de Starwalk tomada en Puerto Vallarta, México, junto con un diagrama de una célula animal, una araña, una escuela de peces, y pájaros recortados en papel.

The Aquarius constellation over de sea line is pouring his water in the bay of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This image taken with the Starwalk application on March 23, 2013 is overlapped with a diagram of water’s structure in a liquid state and its definition in English. It also aligns small plants with planets in the astronomic image and particles of water’s molecular structure, therefore playing with geometric parallelisms between stars and atoms.
La constelación de Acuario, a medio cielo, derrama las aguas de su cántaro sobre el mar de Puerto Vallarta, México. Esta imagen tomada con el software Starwalk el 23 de marzo del 2013 se traslapa con un diagrama de la estructura molecular del agua en su estado líquido y su definición en inglés, y alinea también pequeñas hierbas con los planetas de la imagen astronómica y los átomos de la estructura molecular, jugando así con los paralelismos geométricos entre astros y átomos.

This piece explores water and its links to the life network and the macrocosm. It includes a photograph if the sky in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on March 23, 2013 with the constellation of Aquarius, the water bearer, pouring his waters on the sea; the definition of water in Spanish; its chemical name in English; the structure of water in solid state; cutout images of a marine storm and a small sailboat; together with a diagram of a water molecule aligned with the Aquarius constellation and small plants in each electron and atomic nucleus position.
Esta pieza explora el agua y sus vínculos con la red de vida y el marcrocosmos. Incluye la fotografía del cielo en Puerto Vallarta, México del 23 de marzo del 2013 con la constelación de Acuario, “el portador de las aguas” derramando su cántaro sobre el mar; la definición de agua en español y su nombre químico en inglés; la estructura del agua en estado sólido; las imágenes en recortes de una tormenta marina y un pequeño velero; así como la estructura molecular del agua alineada con la constelación de Acuario y con diminutas hierbas, en la posición de a cada electrón y núcleo atómico.

The Milky Way, this immense group of stars embraces us within in while traveling through the universe. This piece overlaps an image of our galaxy as seen from the Earth (our only real perspective) together with a recreation of its shape. In this case the stars of both perspectives are united with the definition of galaxy in Spanish and the definition of Milky Way in English. On the bottom of the piece two elements hold the image down to Earth while extending towards the sky: a mountainous landscape and an image of the primordial home inspired by Gaston Bachelard’s Poetics of Space. Other air elements float on the paper’s surface while (mentally) connecting us to the sky: a satellite, a plane, clouds and birds.
La Vía Láctea, esta inmensa agrupación de estrellas que nos acoge en su interior, nos transporta por el universo. Esta pieza superpone una imagen de nuestra galaxia vista desde la Tierra (nuestra única perspectiva real) junto con una imagen recreada de la misma. En este caso se unen las estrellas de ambas perspectivas de la Vía Láctea junto con la definición de galaxia en español y la definición de Vía Láctea en inglés. Al pie de la imagen se encuentran dos elementos que nos anclan a la Tierra pero que se extienden hacia el cielo: un paisaje montañoso y una imagen de la casa primordial inspirada en el libro La poética del espacio de Gaston Bachelard. Sobre el resto del papel perforado flotan elementos del aire que nos conectan, (aunque sea mentalmente) con el cielo: un satélite, un avión, nubes y pájaros.

A Diffuse Band of Light Through our Sky, 2013

When the waves touch the seashore sand, they leave behind the trace of their wave, and water bubbles generate small holes. A photograph of this natural phenomenon was intersected with a Starwalk image with Pisces constellation, the Sun and other planets emerging from the sea line. The poem “El mar es hondo y su horizonte es amplio”, by the local poet Gerardo Puertas, floats between this minute and immense stars, and small marine paper replicas inhabit the paper’s surface.
Cuando las olas acarician la arena en la playa, dejan el rastro de su onda y las burbujas de las espuma generan pequeños orificios. Una fotografía de este fenómeno natural se une con las estructuras similares de una imagen de Starwalk donde las estrellas, el Sol, los planetas y la constelación de Piscis emerge del horizonte marino. El poema de “El mar es hondo y su horizonte es amplio” del neolonés Gerardo Puertas flota sobre estos astros diminutos e inmensos, y pequeñas replicas marinas habitan la superficie del papel.

The project Perpetual Ocean from NASA generated a world ocean currents animation based on satellite images. A still from this project is used in this piece: it illustrates the ocean currents that surround Mexico. Among them small schools of cutout fish and ocean plants attempt to follow the currents. This image also includes the definition of ocean and a Starwalk picture of Aquarius (the Water Bearer’s constellation) pouring his waters upon the ocean image. This photograph was taken in Puerto Vallarta Bay, Mexico while the Aquarius constellation was placed just above the sea line.
El proyecto Océano Perpetuo de la NASA generó en base a fotografías satelitales una animación de las corrientes marinas mundiales. El still utilizado en esta pieza ilustra las corrientes que circundan México y sobre ellas se alinean pequeñas escuelas de peces recortados y diminutas replicas de flora marina. Aquí se traslapan también la definición de agua y la fotografía de Starwalk de la constelación de Acuario derramando sus aguas sobre el mar (tomada en Puerto Vallarta, México el 23 de marzo del 2013)

Miniature replicas of marine flora and the Spanish definition of sea are overlapped over a Starwalk image with Pisces constellation emerging from the sea. This photograph was taken in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico overlapping both the astronomical elements and the real sea. On top of these elements floats a punctured image of our planet as seen from the Pacific Ocean perspective, one that makes evident that our Earth is predominantly blue. The image was taken from the book We are Blue by Sylvia Earle, where she confirms the deep and commonly ignored bond between water, sea, and life.

Replicas miniatura de flora marina y la definición de mar en español e inglés se superponen a una fotografía del software Starwalk con la constelación de Piscis emergiendo del mar en Puerto Vallarta, México. Sobre ellas flota una imagen punteada de la Tierra donde el agua (el elemento que cubre la mayor parte de nuestro planeta) es el centro de la geografía. Esta imagen proviene del libro We are Blue de la oceanógrafa Sylvia Earle donde reflexiona sobre el profundo, y muchas veces obviado, vínculo entre el agua, el mar y la vida.

This work is the result of a specific experience, location, and time: a trip to the waterfall Las Chorreras at the Rincón de la Vieja Preservation Area in Costa Rica. The piece includes ferns and grass found at the location, the time, and geographic coordinates. A Starwalk image included shows the Sun, Mercury, and the Hydra constellation among other celestial elements. The rugged paper surface attempts to replicate the rock where the plant specimens were found.

Esta pieza fue realizada sobre una vivencia, un sitio y tiempo específico: una visita a la cascada de agua turquesa Las Chorreras en la Reserva de Rincón de La Vieja en Costa Rica. La pieza incluye helechos y hierbas encontradas en el sitio, la hora y las coordenadas geográficas. La foto de Starwalk muestra un fragmento del cielo con el Sol, Mercurio y la constelación de Hydra entre otros astros. La superficie del papel arrugado intenta replicar la piedra del sitio donde ser encontraron las hierbas.
